Game Play Rules - read ENTIRE post

General Game Play Rules

YOU MUST APPLY AS A CHARACTER BEFORE YOU CAN PLAY THAT CHARACTER. ANYONE WITHOUT A "Character:" TAG UNDER THEIR OFFICIAL AVATAR IS NOT AN ACTUAL CHARACTER. The application and instructions for it are in the New Players forum at the bottom.

1.) You are to remain in character at all times, with the only exclusions being posts made in the Out of Character forum and the chatbox. If the staff feels you are out of character, we will contact you to let you know. If we have to contact you more than once, you will be warned. Three warnings and you lose your character and have to resubmit an application to reclaim them.

2.) Canon characters are required to make at least three posts a week in any of their game threads. Original Characters are required to post at least once a week. You will be warned if you have not met this requirement. Three warnings and you will lose your character and must resubmit an application to reclaim them. This is so that the board doesn't go dead and so that everyone can continue playing smoothly without too much interruption. If you need to take a short hiatus (a few days, a week or two), please let your fellow players know, as well as leaving a message on the Temporary Hiatus thread located in the Out of Character forum. If you need to take more than two weeks of Hiatus, please send a Private Message to one of the staff members and we will discuss and determine whether we will be able to hold your character and will reply promptly to your request.

3.) You must be at least 16 years of age to play this game, as there may be violence and/or mature themes included.

4.) If your post contains mature material, please put it under a spoiler tag. We have our reasons for this and will edit your post into spoiler tags if we feel it needs to be, however, to save the staff the trouble, please just do it yourself.

5.) Make yourself familiar with the profiles of your fellow players so that you know their characters well before interacting with them. You may not put actions or words into other players mouths. If you'd like a conversation to take place, that's fine, however you may not make the other character's response in your post - they will speak for themselves.

6.) When starting a thread, please put a title in the subject line and if there is a specific person with whom you'd like to interact, please put "(attn: character's name)" at the end of your title.

7.) When you have finished this post in its entirety, please reply to it to let the staff know you've done so. If you are applying for a character, you must have the secret phrase from both this post and the Forum Rules post listed (and you must have replied to both this post and the Forum Rules with the secret phrases for each, as well) in order to be approved.

8.) In the Inside The TARDIS forum, please refrain from replying to a thread not addressed to you. Your replies will be deleted by staff, in such a case. Three occurrences of this and you will be stripped of your character and must resubmit an application to reclaim the character.

9.) If you have had to reclaim your character, you're already on thin ice. You will be given three chances at this and if you are stripped of your character on the third resubmission of application, you will no longer be allowed to play the game at all.

10.) You are allowed to play more than one character at a time, however there are a few specifications:

• You must apply for the new character and you must have played as your original character for at least one week, actively, to be considered
  
• You may play up to three characters, however you may only have one canon from each fandom, ie. you can be Gwen Cooper, Rose Tyler, and an OC, but you may not play Gwen Cooper, Toshiko Sato, and an OC, nor could you play Rose Tyler, Donna Noble, and an OC, or Ianto Jones and two separate OCs.

ADD-IN 11.) Multiple threads with the same character are allowed. There is no need for continuity in the game-play, except for relationships and important facts. Otherwise, you're just making up the character's story as you go along, and you don't need to have a timeline for it.

Specific Game Play Rules

1.) Regarding the Torchwood 3 crew:

• You are allowed special access to the Torchwood 3 forum. Other members can view your posts, but only Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Jack Harkness, Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato, and staff members of the game may open topics or reply to them in that forum.
  
• If you would like to interact with someone outside Torchwood 3's canon staff, you must request that your thread be split and/or moved to a forum open to all members.
  
• Torchwood 3 staff may only interact with The Doctor if they are Jack or The Doctor has addressed them first. For example, Owen Harper cannot "stumble upon" the TARDIS and make his way right on inside.

2. Regarding the Doctor and his companions:

• In the Time and Space category, there is a forum named "In the TARDIS." Only staff members of the game and The Doctor himself are authorized to open new topics, although anyone can reply to them.
  
• You are not allowed to ask The Doctor to join him in his travels, however, The Doctor is more than welcome to invite anyone to join him. If The Doctor invites you to come along, you may decline his offer, if you so wish.
  
• No player is allowed to address The Doctor unless addressed first, with the exception of Martha Jones, who has given The Doctor a phone she can reach him upon in canon. It is up to The Doctor whether he'd like to take her up on the offer.
  
• The Doctor is welcome to interact with more than one companion (canon or otherwise) at a time, given that he sticks to canon rules. For example, if The Doctor wants to run a thread with Donna and Martha, that would be all right, however, since Rose has not met any of the other companions, he is not allowed to invite Rose and Martha into the same thread. When it comes to OC companions The Doctor may choose, he is welcome to invite another companion along. This rule is subject to change as the current series of Doctor Who progresses.
  
• If The Doctor so chooses to have more than one thread in progress Inside the TARDIS, he MUST stay active in ALL of the threads until that thread is brought to a close by either he or the companion(s) involved.
  
• Rose and Mickey are still in a parallel dimension, however, we have seen in canon (episode 4x01 - Partners in Crime) that Rose can appear in our dimension, so she is still welcome to be invited by the Doctor Into the TARDIS and is allowed to interact with other companions and OCs OUTSIDE the TARDIS. Given that logic, the same applies to Mickey. The secret phrase for this post is: wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. That said, stay in character: Rose and the other companions do not know one another. Please keep it that way, at least in the beginning. If Rose would like to get to know another companion, she's welcome to it, if the other companion is willing to divulge information to her.
