Keeps a diary of what happens in Torchwood, as well as his own personal life.

Overall personality: Ianto used to be very quiet and distanced, but ever since he stopped having to care for Lisa and keep her a secret, he’s revealed himself a little more, and now he’s even good at cracking jokes.
He is a calm soul, and he has said he doesn’t understand how the other team members like the adrenaline that comes from danger. Ianto is a very intelligent and hard working young man who doesn’t like conflict, but who likes to be right – in fact, he thinks he always is.
He’s a good person, but not very patient with other people who aren’t as quick to think as he is, because Ianto has got a slight superiority complex. He’s also got this mysterious darkness about him, and he seems to know more than he lets on, but Ianto doesn’t talk about it, and nobody asks.

History: Ianto Jones was a junior researcher at Torchwood One, based in Canary Wharf, London. There worked his girlfriend, Lisa Hallet, who was partially turned into a Cyberman (or Cyberwoman) at the time of the Cyberman vs Dalek battle on Earth. When Torchwood One’s entire facility was destroyed and most of its members killed, Ianto went to Cardiff, to find Torchwood Three and convinced Captain Jack Harkness to recruit him.
The real reason why we was so keen to work at Torchwood Three was to hide his girlfriend in the Team’s headquarters until a “cure” was found for her “condition”, but that never came to be, and soon Lisa was already too committed to the Cybermen ideologies, so that when Ianto released her so a doctor could work on her, she killed him, and tried to kill others (including team members) in order to take over the Hub as the new Cybermen headquarters. She was eventually killed, but Ianto, despite understanding why it had to be done, couldn’t forgive the team for having done it. Eventually, he let it go, but it took him a while. Jack did try to win him over slowly, and it seems that he succeeded, as he’s now working on the field as well as doing his old duties at the Hub, and he’s in a sexual (and, to an extent, emotional) relationship with Jack Harkness.

Ianto looked at the rest of the team wearing a placid smile on his face, that didn’t let on whether he was actually smiling, or just pretending. He brought them their coffees, nodding at each of them as he did, wishing them a good morning, and lingered his look when it was Jack’s turn.
It wasn’t his style to flirt around the office – not with the others still there, anyway – but he liked to trade little meaningful looks with Jack, or touch his hand accidentally-on-purpose when handing him something, and he especially liked to catch the other man staring at him out the corner of his eye. It was a good way to brighten up a rainy day.
After he finished his “coffee round”, Ianto stood on the balcony staring down at Jack and Tosh for a while, since his day was being as boring as death and he liked to see the others keeping busy.
He then started walking around their workstations, looking for something to do or to see, as the boredom was slowly getting to him, but Ianto still didn’t feel like going back up to the surface and posing as a Travel Agency receptionist.
“Can I help you with anything sir?” He asked Jack, upon seeing him staring
again. Jack seemed startled by the question, like he hadn’t realized Ianto was so close. It was amusing to make the Captain feel embarrassed.
